So after the trenches were dug, our plumber, also our neighbor, plumbed everything. Then we filled in the trenches with some dirt and mixed up 15 bags of 80lb. Quick-Crete. I took a picture of the finished concrete.

I didn't clear off the cluttered fridge, but I wanted to show the built-in oven and microwave. A year after installing the microwave, it caught on fire!! Luckily it was pretty contained and under warranty. Oddly enough it was the only brand new appliance I bought for the entire kitchen. The oven, fridge, stovetop, and dishwasher were all purchased at Diamond Factory Service, a place where they refurbish used appliances. This summer my husband and I decided we would tear down our garage and put up a new one. Our current "garage" requires both of us to lift the door while the other one runs in and grabs whatever we need and pulls it out. Well, after 4 bids and some serious sticker shock, we decided to add a bathroom to the basement instead. We know a great plumber and electrician so we were all set. We are doing as much labor as we can, while a licensed plumber, our neighbor, and electrician, my brother, do the professional stuff.
First step was to get it laid out and have our plumber tell us where to bust up the floor for pipes. We got that part done two weeks ago, plus dug down about 10 inches for the pipe. Next step is for our plumber to lay the pipe. However, he had emergency knee surgery last week. So now we will wait until he is back on his feet and able to fit us in. Hopefully this week we'll get rolling again! I will be posting pictures as we go! |

This blog started as me just writing about the rehabbing of my home. However, life changed dramatically in the last year so I have changed the topic to dealing with these trials and tribulations instead. Hopefully I will beat this cancer and then get back to my life as a mom, wife and teacher. Archives
