I freaked out! It looks like it is about to fall on my neighbors clubhouse. I had no idea what to do. Do I call insurance? A tree service? My brother? My neighbor? Well I called my neighbor first. No answer. My brother second. No answer. Two tree services. No answers. Finally I reached one tree service, another called me back and my neighbor stopped by to tell me he saw the problem and contacted another tree service. So by tomorrow we should have three estimates and hopefully enough money to still complete our basement project!
Last night we had a HUGE windstorm. It woke me up about 1 am and as I was trying to fall back asleep, I heard a loud snap! I jumped out of bed to see what had happened. Through all of the rain and dark, I couldn't tell what tree, or branch, had fallen. I wasn't able to take a look in the light until 5:00 this evening. Well, a rather large tree snapped. Right now it is held to its base by poison ivy vines and it is basically hanging on a skinny neighbor tree!

My laundry "shoot". I use the word loosely, because it is really just a hole in the floor behind that yellow door in the picture. But I love it! I do not want to part with it. However, we have a bit of a predicament. Our new bathroom is directly below the laundry shoot and the "shoot"is right over the toilet in the new bathroom. Obviously not something we want. My talented brother assures me that we can configure a new shoot of sorts and aim the laundry into a new linen closet next to the basement bathroom. Does anyone else out there have suggestions? Very excited to start putting up the walls on the basement bathroom. Hopefully in the next few weeks I will be able to post some walls!! |

This blog started as me just writing about the rehabbing of my home. However, life changed dramatically in the last year so I have changed the topic to dealing with these trials and tribulations instead. Hopefully I will beat this cancer and then get back to my life as a mom, wife and teacher. Archives
